There is no regular supply of water, electricity or proper sanitation facilities. Slums are generally built on government land that is lying unclaimed or vacant. Webbthe only chance India had of raising the overall standard of living, which proved to be true in the year of 2007 when India recorded its highest GDP growth rate of 9% (French, 2011).
